italy.

We took the midnight train from Munich, Germany to Udine, Italy.  After that, we headed to Venice, Italy! We got to eat some delicious Italian pizza and amazing gelato. Venice is also an amazing city, and I didn’t see a single car there because the streets are all water, so people take boats everywhere! We walked around so many streets and saw so many boats that we got lost and just sat on a bridge with water surrounding us and saw the sunset which was gorgeous. Eventually, we headed back to our hotel in the metropolitan part of Venice. The next day was one of my favorite days of our adventure. We went to Verona, which is the hometown of Love Story and everything to do with Romeo and Juliet. We visited Juliet’s castle and saw her statue. I also wrote a letter to Juliet and stuck it on the letter wall on her castle! We then drove to Manerola, which is on the west coast of Italy. It was in the mountains, but it was also right on the ocean. We drove all the way up where there were so many grape vineyards and then we reached the ocean. There were so many colorful and unique houses and there was just something about that place that absolutely amazed me. I can’t describe how it looked or felt, but I know that I loved it and it was amazing. We ended that day by touring around Pisa! We got more Italian pizza and gelato there. The Leaning Tower of Pisa was a lot cooler than I expected too. The next day we drove to Rome and got a meter long pizza which was so so cool. We did some sight seeing in downtown Rome and then did a session of baptisms in the Rome, Italy temple. That was one of the most powerful experiences of my life. I can’t begin to describe how much peace and amazement I felt there. After touring for days and not hearing our own language, being treated like crap for being American, and trying to get places without knowing anything, it felt so good to be with people who loved us just because we loved God. It was also amazing that when I couldn’t understand any languages I had heard, I could still speak to Heavenly Father and I knew He understood me. Anyways, the next day we did more temple work and more touring of Rome and the Vatican City! We even had a tour of the Catacombs and walked on the oldest road in the world!

Love, Lily
