patience.

Wow. What a crazy time to live. Interestingly enough, I have quite enjoyed the peace and quiet of staying at home and spending time with my family. I think it is very unique and special to see the ways people react to this pandemic, and you can certainly tell where people’s hearts lie at a time like this. I have had many frustrations in the last few weeks when informed that my senior year of high school had pretty much come to an end; no more school, no more senior prom, no more school activities or sports, no more graduation ceremony, no more seeing my friends and teachers every day. However, I have come to the conclusion that because there isn’t a single thing I can do to change these circumstances, I am going to be grateful for the blessings I have to live where I do, have the family I do, and be able to be a part of this significant event in history. As I wish COVID-19 would be cured now and all this trouble go away instantly, it is taking time for me, and others, to understand that this is what life will be like for a while. It got me thinking of how significant this actually is. For all of the churches and temples to be shut down, missionaries to be sent home, conference to be changed, and so many more differences, there must be a very important message that God is trying to send us. To think that this situation influences every person in the world and each member of the spirit world as well because the temple ordinances for the dead aren’t being completed at this time and many souls are returning to heaven recently is such an incredible and sorrowful topic. However, God is still aware of each individual on both sides of the veil and carefully leading us where He needs us to be at this time through calm endurance. He has a plan. It is no coincidence that we have been focusing on home-centered gospel study and that the prophet has recently shared many messages on “Hear Him”. I believe this is the perfect time for us to completely disconnect with all of the things of the world and really reconnect with the one’s that created it; Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. There are so many ways we can choose to “Hear Him” if we set aside time to understand what He is trying to say. The messages I have heard have brought me so much joy and faith in this time and I am grateful for the time of reflection that has been given to each of us on Earth. The reason I chose to focus on patience this month is because in a time where everything is put on hold, it is important to remember that there is peace in listening and waiting for answers as we patiently find our way in the world. God is patiently waiting for us to turn to Him, to find Him, and to hear Him. With gratitude, I will seek His guidance and take time to fully understand what He needs me to. Life is good, God is good, and there are amazing things in store.

D&C 67:13-Ye are not able to abide the presence of God now, neither the ministering of angels; wherefore, continue in patience until ye are perfected.

Love, Lily
